International Association for Food Protection Elects Kali Kniel to Executive Board

Des Moines, Iowa ??Members of the International Association for Food Protection elected Dr. Kali Kniel to the Executive Board as Secretary. Dr. Kniel will take office at the conclusion of IAFP 2016 in St. Louis, Missouri and will fulfill a five-year commitment to the Association, serving as President beginning in July 2019.
Dr. Kniel is a Professor in the Department of Animal and Food Sciences at the University of Delaware in Newark where she has been since 2004. Dr. Kniel leads an active research lab exploring aspects of microbial food safety. Her research addresses issues relevant to industry and policy, and her passion for education and research focuses on the integration of food safety into educational programs across curricula from K??2.
Dr. Kniel has been an IAFP Member since 1999, and has organized and convened a myriad of IAFP symposia, delivered several invited talks at IAFP Annual Meetings, and served a three-year term on the Program Committee. Dr. Kniel has served on numerous Professional Development Committees (PDGs), including as Chair for two.
Dr. Kniel is an Editorial Board Member for both the Journal of Food Protection and Food Protection Trends. She has been a Member of the IAFP Affiliate, Capital Area Food Protection Association, for more than a decade. In 2015, she was awarded the prestigious Elmer Marth Education Award through IAFP.
Dr. Kniel received her B.S. in Biology, M.S. in Molecular Cell Biology, and Ph.D. in Food Science, from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.
